Where our
cars come from

Where our cars actually come from, and roughly how long each journey takes. It is a list of habits rather than a territory map.

Is it worth the drive?

Send the reg. If there is somebody nearer who can do what you need, we will say so.

No obligation. We price it before anything is touched.

A list of habits, not a territory

These are the places our customers keep coming from, with the drive time and what tends to arrive from each. None of it is a boundary — people come from a good deal further for dyno time, and plenty of Nottingham cars go elsewhere.

What it is useful for is honesty about the journey. A twenty-five minute drive for something you could have done nearer is worth knowing about before you set off, not after.

Nottingham

On the doorstep

Our own patch. Short city journeys mean a lot of sooty diesels and blocked filters.

NG1–NG11
Derby
Derby — a local street or landmark

Derby

25 minutes

A50 and A38 commuters. Mostly economy work on diesels doing real mileage.

Mansfield
Loughborough — a local street or landmark

Mansfield

30 minutes

Vans and pickups from the trade estates, plus a steady run of hot hatches.

Mansfield — a local street or landmark

Loughborough

25 minutes

University town, so a lot of first cars and a lot of questions about insurance.

LE11–LE12
Newark
Newark — a local street or landmark

Newark

30 minutes

Agricultural and light commercial. Torque low down matters more than peak power.

40 minutes

The furthest most people travel. Almost always for dyno time rather than software alone.

How it works

Where we work

Software-only jobs we do at your address — driveway, office car park or yard. Anything that needs measuring comes to the unit, because a rolling road does not travel.

Tell us the job and we will say which one it is before you book.

Travelling for tuning

Most of what a tuner does can be done anywhere with a laptop and a cable, which is why so much of the trade is mobile. The part that cannot travel is the measurement.

So the honest position on distance is this: if you want software and nothing else, distance is a reason to go local. If you want to see what the car made before and after, the journey is the point, and forty minutes is not much to find out what you actually own.

Before you set off: send the registration. If what your car needs is a repair rather than a map, we would rather tell you now than after you have driven here.

My town is not on the list. Does that matter?

Not really. The list is where most of our cars come from, not a boundary. If you are willing to make the journey, we are willing to do the work.

Is it worth travelling for?

That depends entirely on whether you want it measured. For software alone, probably not — there will be somebody nearer. For dyno time, there are not many four-wheel dynos between here and the M1.

Do you charge more further out?

No. The price is the price wherever you have come from. Fleet work at your premises is quoted on the round, not the mileage.

Can you collect the car?

For fleet accounts, yes. For a single retail car it is rarely worth what we would have to charge, and we will say so rather than take the booking.

How long will I be there?

About two hours for a Stage 1, longer if the dyno is involved. Worth knowing before you plan the journey.

Ready when you are

Wherever you are,
the price is the same.

Send the registration and what you want from the car. We come back with the figures for your exact engine and a fixed price, usually the same day.
