Where it happens
Two options, and the job decides which. We will tell you before you book rather than when we arrive.
- By phone: quickest for anything urgent or awkward. It rings in the workshop, not an office.
- By form: best if you want a price in writing. Send the reg and we come back the same day.
- In person: you are welcome to come and look at the equipment before you commit to anything.
- Parking: on the forecourt, free, and there is somewhere to sit while you wait.
What to have ready
None of this is essential, but it gets you a firm price rather than a range, usually on the first reply.
- The registration — everything else follows from it
- Anything already fitted: exhaust, intake, intercooler, a previous map
- Whether it has a live fault or a warning light on
- What you actually want: power, economy, drivability, or a fault sorting
If you have been mapped before
Tell us, and by whom if you know. A file already on the car changes what we read off it and what we can safely write back, and finding out halfway through costs time we have to charge for.
We are not precious about it. Plenty of what comes through the door has been tuned before and a fair bit of it badly. It is easier to deal with when we know in advance.
Worth knowing before you ring: if what you actually need is a diagnostic rather than a map, we would rather book that. It costs less, and a remap written over a fault is money spent twice.
Getting in touch
What do you need from me to quote?
The registration, and a sentence about what you want from the car — more poke, better mpg, or a fault sorting. That is enough for a fixed price on most vehicles.
How quickly can you book me in?
Usually within the week for software work, longer if the dyno is wanted on a Saturday. Ring rather than email if it is urgent; the phone gets answered on the floor.
Can I talk to whoever will do the work?
Yes, and you should. There is no call centre and nothing is subcontracted — the person who books you in is the person who writes the file.
What if my car has a fault already?
Say so when you book. We will put the diagnostic first, because a map written around a fault hides it for a fortnight and then it comes back worse.
Do you work on vans and fleets?
Regularly. Most of it is drivability and mpg rather than power, and above three or four vehicles it goes on a monthly account.
What are the busy times?
Saturday mornings and the week after payday. Mid-week you will usually get a slot at short notice.
