Is a remap safe for my engine?
The honest answer depends on the engine in front of you, not on remapping in general. Here is what actually determines it.
Read itWritten by the people who do the work, mostly because the same six questions come up every week and the internet answers them badly.

Two lines on a chart, and four ways the trade makes them say something they should not.

What a manufacturer can actually decline, what you must tell your insurer, and what it usually costs.

Where the line falls, why the numbers are not standardised, and when the second one is genuinely worth it.

It is an MOT failure and it is illegal. It is also usually a symptom of something cheaper to fix.

Where the saving actually comes from, roughly what it is worth, and when it does not pay.

A large slice of the industry resells generic software. How to tell, and why it matters for your car.
A remap is one of the few things people buy for a car without being able to check what they got. That asymmetry is why the trade has the reputation it has, and writing plainly about it is the cheapest way we know of closing the gap.
Some of these argue against spending money with us. The DPF article talks people out of a job we could have charged for, and the Stage 2 one sends most readers back to Stage 1. That is the point — if the honest answer costs us a booking, it was not a booking worth having.
Software-only jobs we do at your address — driveway, office car park or yard. Anything that needs measuring comes to the unit, because a rolling road does not travel.
Tell us the job and we will say which one it is before you book.
Send the registration and what is on your mind. We come back with a straight answer, the figures and a fixed price, usually the same day.
